Hello! I’m Marcy…
I founded Marcy Naismith Design with the belief that thoughtfully designed environments have the power to support wellbeing, create connection, and positively shape the human experience. I specialize in architectural design, interior design, medical planning, and Lean design facilitation for healthcare and senior living environments, bringing together both creativity and operational understanding to create spaces that are beautiful, functional, and deeply supportive of the people who use them.
I hold degrees in both Interior Architecture and a Master of Architecture, and I am both an NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer and EDAC Certified in Evidence-Based Design. While I bring a depth of technical knowledge and experience to my work from my 20+ years in the field, I approach every project with curiosity, empathy, and the understanding that each client, community, and environment is unique.
My design approach is guided by a desire to truly understand the purpose of each space and the experiences of the people within it. I believe environments should not only function well, but also evoke feelings of safety, calm, comfort, and discovery. I am passionate about creating spaces that spark joy through thoughtful details, layered experiences, warmth, and human-centered design.
I genuinely enjoy engaging with my clients and project teams throughout the design process. My role is to listen carefully, understand both spoken and unspoken needs, and translate those insights into spaces that support the activities, workflows, and emotional experiences that take place within them. I also love bringing forward unique ideas, refined aesthetic elements, and creative solutions that elevate each environment while remaining grounded in functionality and purpose.
Every project I take on is deeply personal to me. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, I strive to create tailored environments that reflect the goals, identity, and vision of each client. My work is rooted in collaboration, empathy, and a commitment to designing spaces that feel meaningful, supportive, and enduring.
I have a proven track record of collaborating with major healthcare and senior living organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest, California, and across the country, tailoring each project to the unique needs of its region, community, and users. As a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) in Washington and Oregon and an Emerging Small Business (ESB) in Oregon, I am committed to fostering diversity, inclusion, and meaningful collaboration within the industry. I am also an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects and serve on the board of the Association of Medical Facilities Professionals (AMFP) Pacific Northwest Chapter as the Oregon Director.
